As some of you may know, last May I decided to redecorate the
family room on a $1500 budget and a 30-day timeline. That was a major fail but I did
get some really cool new furnishing. So here we are two months later and I’m
just finishing the mantel. The hard part was keeping to the $20 budget.
Before
After
I’m so happy with the way it came out. Check out the details
below.
Mirror- $1.99
I borrowed the mirror from the guest bathroom and covered it
with leather fabric I had leftover from my clutch project. I accented the
corners with decorative tacks from hobby lobby ($1.99).
Birdhouse- $2.99
The birdhouse is from Hobby Lobby. I painted it with some leftover paint and distressed it with sand paper.
Artwork- Free
Each year we celebrate Kwanzaa by giving each other handmade
gift. Last Kwanzaa, our uncle gave each household a printing he designed. I
found the frame stored away in some unpacked moving boxes. The rest is history.
Family Sign & Picture Frames- Free
A very long time ago I purchased a picture frame kit from
Bed, Bath, & Beyond, its been sitting in storage so I pull it out and gave
it a new home.
Photo B- $11
A wooden letter from Hobby Lobby ($4.99) covered with family
photos printed in black/white and covered with Modge Podge ($5.99). It’s a time
consuming project but I love the results.
Plant/Planter- ($1.97)
My mom purchased this plant for me from Pikes. The planter
is a peanut can covered in Jute ($1.97). You can check out the tutorial here.

I like some of the new pieces you added
