Hey fabulous folks! Today I have the pleasure of introducing the super talented Heather Laveaux. Why am I calling her super talented? Because her voice is amazing. Hearing is believing, so after reading about Heather and her debut EP "3 Octave Martini," be sure to head over to her website and check out her out.

Tell us a little about your album.
There are elements of jazz, pop, and blues - infused with a sultry lounge vibe and sprinkled with hints of gospel and country. I have taken in a steady diet of wildly-varied musical influences my entire life and created what I call "lounge-pop." This debut contains 2 cover songs with little twists to make them my own and 3 original songs that provide a little insight into my thoughts. Overall, this debut EP serves as an introduction to me as an artist. I consider it a peek behind the curtain of my private inner dialogue.
3 Octave Martini is a unique name, how did you come up with it?
When I realized I had a wide vocal range (more than 3 octaves), I wanted to use that as an identifier and made a play on the phrase "three olive martini" for a newly-created e-mail account. After putting this record together, I considered several options for the title, but nothing else really captured the retro lounge vibe I wanted. I quickly realized the name "3 Octave Martini" was a perfect fit. It effectively evoked an image of vintage nightlife, glamour, and music.
When did you know you wanted to be a signer?
I think I came into the world performing in some capacity! As a young girl, I always put on little shows and plays, danced, or sang to anyone who would listen. Like most kids, I "performed" in my room, singing into my hairbrush as if it were an arena concert in front of thousands of screaming fans. Over the years, my focus shifted, and singing became something I did when I was alone. Although I pursued more conventional goals for a professional education and career, it never felt right. One day I finally accepted that my dreams and desires to perform were going to become a reality or eventually make me insane. Nothing has ever affected me the way music does. Writing songs and singing is the ultimate way to express myself. It's incredible to contribute my feelings to the collective emotions people experience when a great song comes on. There's nothing in life I would rather do.
I love the song Mornin from 3 Octave Martini, which song did you have the most fun recording?
Oh, thank you - it's so exciting to hear that! The entire recording process was perpetual bliss. It was such a blessing to share the studio with immensely talented musicians who possess a level of skill, passion, and joy for music that I aspire to. Having said that, I really loved recording "Why Don't You Do Right." It is more of a "performance showpiece" that has a very glamorous period feel to it and appeals to my love for acting. It was incredible - channelling the essence of Jessica Rabbit, Marilyn Monroe, and Mae West; combining my own "Ginger-meets-Mary Ann" personality to accurately express myself as the fabulous Ms. Laveaux.
I read that you have a serious shoe addiction, who is your favorite designer?
Ah, yes, the shoes...I LOVE SHOES!!! I don't discriminate when it comes to shoes. It's more about the way they make me feel than who made them. A great shoe makes you feel sexy and confident and makes the outfit - sometimes it IS the outfit! I love feminine heels and wedges, strappy sandals with peep-toes, and unexpected color splashes. I'm currently obsessed with Old Gringo boots and wear them with everything! I love to pair them with shorts and skirts, or the occasional silk gown.
Outside of your beautiful voice, do you have any hidden talents?
A girl could get used to all these compliments....Thank you for the kind words. When I'm not writing and singing, I'm taking pictures. It's another way of expressing my views (very literally) and is a huge source of inspiration. My favorite subject matter is the beach - water, shells, birds - all things in nature and wildlife, and animals (especially my Great Danes!) I'm new to Instagram (@MsLaveaux) and already in love with it!
What advice would you give to others looking to get into the music business?
I'm just getting started in my music career and wish I knew some secrets! The only advice I can give at this point is to be focused, passionate, and unwavering in your commitment. Never forget that it's a job, but enjoy every moment of it!
Where can we go to buy your amazing album?
