I don’t know what
it is about me that make random people start talking to me out of the blue.
Maybe I smile too much or maybe I look lonely and they’re trying to keep me
company. But anywho…I was at the mall a couple days ago and a lady started up a
random conversation in the shoe department of Dillard’s. It went sometime like
this:
Lady: Those boots
are cute. Where did you find them?
Me: It think they
are over there (points in the direction of the shoes)
Lady: How much
are they?
Me: I think they
are 2 something (Ugg boots)
Lady: (Makes weird
noise) I don’t want to pay that much for some shoes. They are not that cute.
What you do for a living?
Me: Recently
unemployed so I’m just a housewife for now.
Lady: Oh. What
does your husband do?
Me: Nurse
Lady: You’re gay?
Me: What?
I guess I didn’t
get the memo that men couldn’t be nurses. Who Knew?
Anywho… Guess who
is stopping by today? She is a soon to be nurse and is absolutely fabulous. It
is Paige from Eloping Stethoscope. Take it away Paige.
Hi! I'm Paige! On
my blog, I write about a ton of different topics which can range from being a
"stay at home" wife, a nursing student, an army wife, a business
student's wife, a crafter, a jewelry designer, a (novice) graphic designer.
Seriously, you'll find anything and everything on my blog. My husband and I
love to make new foods, so I try to post a recipe when we do. Whenever I
attempt a craft, failed or not, I promise to write about it.
How did you come up with your
blog's name?
I was
brainstorming with my best friend and husband and I knew that I wanted it to
have something to do with being in nursing school and having just eloped so
"Eloping Stethoscope" came out as a joke and none of us could get our
mind off of it so it stuck.
Tell us a little about your ESTY
shop
I started making
jewelry a couple of years ago as a creative outlet. It really is a destressor
for me. With all the analytical thinking in nursing school that makes me want
to tear my brain out, I really need to exercise my right side of the brain!
Then I found out
my great grandmother also made jewelry and before she died, she passed on a box
of the jewelry supplies she had. (She kept them in a metal tin! Typical
Grandma!) It's been a joy for both me and my mom to feel like we carry a piece
of my great grandmother with us when we were the jewelry I make from her
supplies!
What do you consider to be truly fabulous about your
life?
My husband. I feel like that's such
a generic answer but he's my best friend and truly does understand me and let's
me be myself.
Any tips on balancing the demands
of nursing school while being a newly wed.
Ah, that's such a
hard question! The major thing that helps is having a husband that is understanding.
Since he's in the army, he understands the time commitment to nursing school
because it's very similar. He helps out with housework and cooks dinner and
things like that so I can study. He also never puts up a fuss when I stay for
hours at a friend's house studying when I could/should be at home. Basically,
the major thing is that he understands that being a nursing student has to come
before being a wife until I'm done with school.
If you had to listen to one song on
repeat for an hour, what would it be and why?
"If You Only
Knew" by Shinedown. Cody (the husband) and I both love Shinedown and
actually sang "The Sounds of Madness" while waiting on a tow truck on
our first date (now that's an interesting story!). "If You Only Knew"
is Shinedown's only love song so we decided it was our song. Either one of
those, really, would bring back so many memories.
Any hidden talents?
Well, I don't know if singing is
considered hidden but I was in choir for three years and was actually one of 3
8th graders to be selected for a high school choir that was the best in the
state but I had to move so I couldn't be in it. I've also been told that if I
kept at it, I'd have a chance at a recording career, but my heart was never in
it.
What was the last good book you
read?
The Matched
Series by Ally Condie. The first two books are out now, and I just finished the
second one. I have book reviews on my blog on them!
What are you looking forward to
this fall?
Wearing my boots and my colored skinny jeans!!

Be sure to stop by and say hello to Paige.
Stay Fab,
Tranae

I love Paige's blog! She's so relatable!
ReplyDeleteI already follow Paige's blog. It is a fun read, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteha ha to the strangers telling you random stuff. I sometimes do sampling demos at grocery stores. I am always amazed by the things perfect strangers will tell me about their lives! I figure maybe some of them live alone and have no one to talk to. One of the most recent times I sampled, I had a lovely conversation with a little old man who looked like he was 80 if he was a day, who told me all about the different cleaning products he uses to keep his apartment looking nice. He was so proud! It was cute.
Some people have straight up "balls" to say foolishness out of their mouth!...
ReplyDeletejust wanted to stop by on today.. AND to say that you were right. Fan of 50 shades indeed and I read the entire trilogy in about a week or less.
People can be ridiculous some times. For me it seems as though people love to ask me about my sex life. Friends and rarely but has happen strangers. Sweet guest post!!
ReplyDeleteLOL...That random convo is hilarious!!
ReplyDeleteHello Paige!!
I don't know why some people say things like that. A few days ago one of my moms co workers went to the grocery and the lady in the line behind him called out to him and told him she thinks he looks nice but he needs to get rid of the earring in his ears because it makes him look gay.
ReplyDeleteIt's just ridiculous.
I'm going to check out Paige's blog now.
