Not Another Resolution Post

It’s the 3rd of January and I have yet to make my New Year’s resolutions. Its not because I don’t have any goals or bad habits that need kicking. It is because I have 91 goals on my 101 in 1001 list that need to be check off. So with a list that long, I figured why bother with resolutions.

I came up with 101 in 1001 list back in March of 2012 and so far I have completed 10 tasks (at this rate things are not looking very good). So today, instead of posting about resolution I am not going to keep, I am going to reflect on the 10 tasks that got me a gold star.

Buy a houseplant and keep it alive for 6 months. For a while, I was killing houseplants like crazy but I think I have finally casted off my black thumb. Not only did I keep one plant alive for 6 months, I am a proud plant momma to a 7-month-old succulent.

Buy a piece of art- Thanks to Ross and a cashier that was too lazy to do a price check, I got this bad boy for less than 20 bucks.

Go a week without wearing pants- Marissa at Shabby, Chic, & Cheap is the reason I achieved this goal. She held a no pants week back in April and I joined in on the fun.

Get a haircut. I cut off all the tex-laxed ends of my hair back in July (around 4 to 5 inches). It was kind of a big deal to me because I tex-laxed the year before out of frustration. I regretted doing it immediately so this task righted a wrong I had made.

Host a Tea Party. I think I had the most fun doing this one. It was a princess theme tea party and we invited girls of all ages.

Go on a Picnic- I included the girls in my teen empowerment group on this one. We made a day of chilling at Grant Park.

Go to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens- I have lived in Atlanta my entire life and had not been to the botanical gardens. So my husband, my niece, and I made a day of it. We all fell head over heels for this place.

See a Cirque du Soleil show- we went last week and had a blast. We saw Totem this time and it was an amazing show. I can’t wait until they come back next year.

Go to the Georgia Aquarium- Love this place. We wanted to get married here but couldn’t afford the 25K food & beverage minimum… yes minimum.

Inspire someone else to make a 101/1001 goal list- this was one of the greatest. It is always nice when someone says you inspired him or her to do something.

So there you have it, an update on my 101 list. If you had a 101 list, what would one of your tasks be?

  1. I can seriously agree with most of these, especially the first. I'm like cyanide to plants. They come in fine, but within a week, they're already dead. It's tragic.

Good luck with your list. It sounds as if you have some great resolutions.

    And Happy New Year!
