Last June I started a project that was supposed to last one
month. Six months later and I still haven’t finished decorating the family
room. Don’t get me wrong, I made some progress like… getting a sofa, thrifting
some end tables, refinishing a dresser I found off the street into a media
console, and decorating the mantel. Really the only thing I need to do now is accessorize. But it’s really
hard. There is so much cool stuff out there I can’t make up my mind. Plus the
budget is kind of low… like box mac & cheese low. And art can be really
expensive.
Since it is the family room, we want the art to be fun and funky. And to represent us. So this week I made it my mission to find five art prints we liked. Here is what we came up with.
This reminded us of something you would see at Cirque de Soleil (which we loved by the way)
We are super fans of Lord of Rings. Since we watch TV in the family room we are thinking about bring in some elements of our favorite shows & movies.

This one reminds me of the owl from the Harry Potter movies. Plus we have a noisy little owl that visits the wooded area behind our house. So it kind of goes.
Ever watched the show Treme? We are a big fan of chief. Plus I really love headdress. Don't worry, I promise to never wear one, it all about respect.
Okay now here is my problem. We absolutely love the first print but I cant find the original artist to save my life. I found it on Pinterest and the source took me to someones tumblr page. Help me. Any suggestions on how to find the artist?
I like your choices, but can't help you with finding the artist. It sounds like you really have made great progress. I think accessories take the longest to find and fill in....but I think good ones do.

Accessories should have stories or really reflect your personality. Most of my coolest things I've just run across while looking for other things

Just finished checking out your living room links...with Christmas Etsy rush, I've been remiss in my reading. I love the end tables you found. What a find! Your chair is super cool. The tv piece was great as well. Was that taken from the dresser piece you showed in the "sofa" post? Anyway they are all great pieces. I love finding great pieces at the thrift store. I can't wait to see the whole room.
ReplyDelete3 and 4 are my faves. I'll be hitting up Michales and AC Moore for prints and then I'll frame them nicely. My decor budget is more like PB&J. It sucks.
ReplyDeleteI love that map print. My boyfriend really wants a giant world map on the living room wall and I think that's a perfect compromise. It's pretty and full of color...but still a map.
