When crafting goes wrong

Instead of showing you one of the crafting projects I did this weekend that came out right, I’m going to tell you the story of when crafting went wrong.

It starts off as a spur of the moment decision after seeing a pic on Pinterest. You’ve had that feeling, right?  That I can do that… looks easy. Well in my stories, those are always the ones that totally screw me over. Here my pinspiration, cute isn't it. Instead of using it as a jewelry holder I was going to make two and hand them on the side of my fireplace.

Anywho… I pulled out my supplies and covered my worktable (a.k.a. the kitchen counter top). I should have known this project was going to go to hell when I removed the paper off the back of the canvas and found a dead cricket and spider having a faceoff.

I painted my first color and all was well. I let it dry (sort of). To be honest this is where I went wrong. I’m not very patient when I get excited about something. Blame it on my ADD.

So I painstakingly make my lines and lay out my tape. Almost make it to the end and guess what happens? I run out of freaking tape and it is 11:30ish at night. Now a sane person would have set this thing aside until the next day… but not me. Nooooooo… I head out to my nearest Wal-Mart. The only store still open. The very store that I said I would never ever buy from again (that’s another gone wrong story).

So I get the tape, make it back home, and lay the final two lines. Then I paint my next color. Everything is going good. I’m thinking to myself “girl you did that.”  So I start to remove my tape before the paint dries and guess what comes off with it. The paint!!!

Long story short… I saw red; the canvas got shanked with a pair of scissors and thrown out the back door. And I went up to my room, got in the bed, pulled out my emergency Kit-Kat and watched Twilight. Oh and this all happened in front of Chris. Who now thinks I’m a little crazy. Jokes on him, I’ve been a little crazy for a while now.

And that my friends, is an example of when crafting goes wrong. But it gets even worse… The next morning Chris sends me a text with the picture of a shanked and discarded canvas. I felt so ashamed. But at least he got some pictures for this post.

So tell me about your crafting goes wrong experiences.
